A limo typically looks like a longer, upgraded version of a regular car or SUV, with an extended body, extra doors or windows, and dark-tinted glass. From the outside, most limousines are low and elongated, riding on a stretched wheelbase with a smooth, continuous roofline and a longer rear section than a normal vehicle. Classic stretch limos are usually based on luxury sedans like a Chrysler 300, or Lincoln MKT/Stretch, and are often painted black or white to look clean, formal, and upscale.
SUV limos and sprinter-style limos are taller and fit more passengers, built from vehicles like Escalades, Navigators, Hummers or Mercedes-Benz Sprinters, so they have a higher roof, more vertical sides, and a more imposing road presence. Classic stretch sedans typically seat about 6–10 passengers, while larger SUV and sprinter limos often hold roughly 10–20 people depending on the specific build and interior layout.
Inside, a limo has all different custom features and amenities. Instead of simple front-facing bench seats, you’ll usually find plush leather seating that wraps along the sides in an “L” or “J” shape so passengers can face each other and talk easily. The ceiling and side panels often have color-changing LED or fiber-optic lighting, mirrored or glossy accents, and sometimes “starlight” effects, with dark-tinted windows providing privacy from the outside. Along one side there is usually a built-in bar area or console with cup holders, bottle storage, and ice bins, plus integrated speakers, subwoofers, and control panels so you can adjust the music, lights, and sometimes the temperature. In SUV and sprinter limos, the higher roof and larger cabin give you more headroom and a roomier feel, while classic stretches have that long, low profile people associate with weddings, proms, and red-carpet-style arrivals.
