Things To Do In Wentzville, MO
Wentzville is a small unincorporated town in St. Charles County, Missouri, United States of America. It has been nicknamed the Electric City because it was once a major center for manufacturing electric and gas equipment. Wentzville's population is around 10 thousand people which are mostly white citizens of European descent with large numbers from Germany, Ireland and so on. The city became part of the greater Saint Louis metropolitan area when Iron Mountain branch located there closed its doors in 1992 after years as one of two regional headquarters for Storer Communications Inc., an international media company based in California that operated television stations across North America before they merged to form E! Entertainment Television (now owned by NBCUniversal). Today most residents work at either General Motors, the local hospital or at one of Wentzville's many farms.
The city has an active Mayor, Dennis Martin who is a Democrat and was elected in April 2008 with 55% of votes cast that time.
General Motors closed its world headquarters location (Building 34) on September 18, 2009 taking away 500 jobs from this small town which had less than 10 thousand people living here before the recession hit them hard back then. But it wasn't all bad news for going as last year they received $11 million extension package grant from state government for infrastructure improvements around their new campus site outside of Saint Louis County boundaries. They also have partnered up with other companies like AT&T Services, Inc. for building a new facility to serve as a Fiber Operations Center (FOC) in Wentzville which opens up more jobs and has put their economy back on the right track
The city of Wentzville is located near or at the intersection of Interstate 70, U.S Route 40, and Missouri Highway 370 within an about 60 square miles radius that also includes unincorporated areas like Marthasville Tollivertown and New Melle. It's bordered by Saint Charles County on west side where it borders Labadie subdivision while its east side neighbors Jefferson County with natural landmarks such as Watson Creek running through town just south of I-70 exit.
Wentzville could be considered as a small town with population about 10,000 people. It's been mostly farming and agricultural community for centuries but in recent decades the area has seen an influx of developments due to both its proximity to I-70 which is one of the most important east west highways running from coast to coast and because it was situated on one of largest geologic faults lines in North America known as Saint Charles Rock Road Fault Line.
There are plenty more things that you can do such as hiking Woodbine Park, attending the Spring Craft Show at Norwood Hill Farm or McCurdy Gardens -more than 100 acres devoted exclusively to horticulture display gardens where they have six different themed areas including Oriental Garden with a cherry blossom tree, the Italian Garden with an outdoor fountain and Spanish Patio with a Moorish-style gazebo.
